The mission
What is Technoetics?
We build tools for the inner frontier. The name comes from Roy Ascott's framework for the convergence of consciousness, technology, and art. We take it literally: every project is simultaneously a functional tool, a research instrument, and a cultural artwork.
Radical open-minded empiricism
Dogmatic taboos hinder discovery. We explore unconventional topics at the fringes of science.
Transparency
While prototypes and MVP may be initially closed source, we strive towards publishing open protocols, open source, and open data.
Artfulness
Every project is a kind of technological artwork. The aesthetic is part of the argument. If it doesn't move you, we haven't finished building it.
Humor
Making controversial subjects approachable by not taking ourselves too seriously. The tone is tongue-in-cheek, self-aware, and occasionally absurd or provocative.
